130 Staple Food Packages Distributed to Earthquake Victims in Selayar Islands Regency

One month after the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that affected Selayar Islands Regency, many of its residents have not resumed their activities. To help fulfill their basic needs, Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) distributed staple food packages to disaster-hit communities in Kalatoa Village, Pasilambana District, Selayar Islands Regency.

ACTNews, SELAYAR ISLANDS REGENCY – Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) continues to support the earthquake victims in Selayar Regency. One month after the earthquake, many residents of Barumbung Hamlet, Kalaotoa Village, Pasilambena District, Selayar Islands Regency, are still staying in evacuation points.

Sahrianto from Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) said that on Monday (1/17/2022) and Tuesday (18/1/2022), ACT distributed 130 food packages to the earthquake victims in Kalaotoa Village, Pasilambena District, Selayar Regency. Each food package contained vegetable oil, tea, instant foods, rice, eggs, sugar, biscuits, soy sauce, and milk.

“The aid was distributed in two hamlets namely Bonto Bonto and Barumbung. Both are the worst affected areas," said Sahrianto, Tuesday (1/18/2022).

He continued, until now, the activities of the earthquake victims in the two hamlets have not resumed to normal. Residents whose houses were destroyed are still cleaning their houses and scavenging for pieces of debris that can still be reused. []
