ACTNews, WEST BANK – Israeli settler attacks on Palestinian villages and properties in the West Bank are reported to be more than doubled in 2021 compared to the same period in 2019 and 2020.

In 2019, 363 settler attacks were recorded, while in 2020, the number was 507. However, in the first half of 2021, there are already 416 attacks on Palestinians. This amount is more than double the amount in the same period in 2019 and 2020.

These attacks include vandalism such as throwing stones, slashing tires, and uprooting trees. They also painted racist slogans about Muslims and Arabs.

The attacks occurred not only in the West Bank but also in East Jerusalem. In January, Israeli settlers set fire to a mosque in Sharafat Village in the suburbs of East Jerusalem.

In early October, Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian shepherds in the Khillet Makhoul area of the northern Jordan Valley. Aref Daraghmeh, a Palestinian human rights defender, said settlers sprayed pepper to drive the shepherds out of the pasture.

Israeli settlers keep kicking the shepherds out of the pasture as they try to control the land in favor of illegal settlements.

Ironically, Israeli authorities never arrest any settlers while at the same time they often detain innocent Palestinians for no reason. []
