ACTNews, BANDA ACEH – The eruption of Mount Semeru caused casualties and left a deep sorrow for the residents of Lumajang. As a form of humanitarian solidarity in dealing with disasters, Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) Aceh and Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) Banda Aceh raised donations for victims of the Mount Semeru eruption on Monday (12/6/2021). The team carried out fundraising at Jambo Tape 4 intersection, Banda Aceh.
The Acehnese who drove through the area were enthusiastic about donating. The teams managed to raise money to meet the needs of survivors of the eruption of Mount Semeru. Nurul Marhamah, Head of MRI Banda Aceh, says we need collaboration to raise funds from the community.
"We need wider collaboration. Hence, we can help the victims quickly in an emergency," said Marhamah. Marhamah invites other communities to participate in disaster response and raise donations with ACT and MRI Banda Aceh.
MRI team also evacuated and assisted victims in disaster evacuation centers, Lumajang Regency, East Java. More than five thousand people had evacuated due to the Mount Semeru eruption.
Based on information as of Tuesday (12/7/2021) afternoon, this disaster caused 22 casualties, dozens of people seriously injured and damaged 2,970 houses. The displaced residents urgently need assistance in the form of food, medical, baby equipment, and so on.
