ACTNews, AMBON - Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) and the Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) Maluku set up a public kitchen that serves to provide meals for the flood victims in Batu Merah Village of Amantelu District, Ambon City.
Commander of MRI Maluku Muhammad Iqbal Kumkelo said, based on the team’s observation, the flood victims hadn’t been able to cook because their cooking equipment was washed away by the flood on Saturday (10/3). For this reason, the public kitchen was set up to make sure that the flood victims receive enough food.
"Alhamdulillah, on the first day, we set up a soup kitchen to distribute food to the flood victims. More than 100 meal packages were distributed to the flood victims, and the food distribution went well. We hope that this assistance can ease our disaster-hit brothers and sisters and provide them with a little help,” said Iqbal on Tuesday (10/6) yesterday.
Hania, one of the flood victims in Batu Merah Village, admitted that she was greatly assisted by the public kitchen because her cooking equipment has been washed away by the flood. "Thank you to all of you. We are truly very happy and helped by ACT who has provided food. It is really a meaningful assistance in the midst of this flood, "said Hania.
Iqbal hoped that the benefactors can participate in helping the flood victims up until the recovery period is over. "Not only in Batu Merah but also in several other locations which were submerged by floods. We are calling all elements of society to help flood victims through our BNI Syariah bank account at 88 0000 4451 in the name of Aksi Cepat Tanggap Maluku. You can also donate through the Indonesian website," asked Iqbal.
