ACTNews, BEKASI – Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) Bekasi City handed over 1,000 kilograms of rice from the Free Food Operation (OPG) program to the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Bekasi City, Wednesday (7/14/2021). In addition, ACT also delivered Waqf Drinking Water assistance. The rice will be distributed to underprivileged people in Bekasi City.
The Chairman of MUI Bekasi City, KH. Mir’an Syamsuri welcomed the collaboration which was manifested through Free Food Operation program with MUI Bekasi City. Later, hundreds of rice packages, each contains 3 kilograms of rice, will be distributed through 12 branch offices of MUI in each District in Bekasi City.
“This is the third time for us to work with ACT. I am very grateful. We will distribute this assistance to several Islamic boarding schools and orphanages as soon as possible,” said Mi’ran, Wednesday (7/14/2021).
Secretary-General of MUI Bekasi City Hasnul Pasaribu also says that the rice and mineral water assistance will be distributed to Islamic boarding schools and orphanages in Bekasi City, since the students and the residents of the orphanages also had difficulty meeting the needs of the students during the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We will list and immediately send letters today to the Islamic boarding schools and orphanages. There are quite a lot of them. We must avoid miscalculations. They have also been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The guardians of the students, as well as the orphanages, are economically depressed," said Hasnul.
Ihsan Hafizan from ACT Bekasi City Program team said that this is the third collaboration between ACT and MUI Bekasi City for the implementation of Free Food Operation. Since the beginning of the pandemic, MUI has become an element of the community that is always involved in aid distribution considering its important role in empowering people’s solidarity.
“Therefore, we also encourage everyone to support the Free Food Operation program by sending the best alms through Bekasi.indonesiadermawan.id/DaruratSolidaritas. Insha Allah, we will continue the collaboration with MUI including the Qurbani implementation this year,” concluded Ihsan.
