ACT Humanitarian Post in Sentani Starts Operating

ACTNews, JAYAPURA – To further assist the victims of the flash flood in Sentani, Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) set up a humanitarian post on Jalan Raya Airport Nendali, East Sentani, Jayapura. Since Thursday (3/21), the post has started storing the foodstuffs and basic supplies to be distributed to the victims.

Commander of the ACT Humanitarian Post in Sentani, Lukman Solehudin, said that the post will be the center of the team’s activities in assisting the flash flood victims, including rescue operations, victim assessments, provisions of the basic supplies for the Public Kitchen, and aid package distribution.

As for the distribution, Solehudin added, the team will choose several distribution locations because the flash flood victims are still in dire need of emergency aid such as flashlights, food supplies, tents and mattresses as well as basic needs such as hygiene kits.

The ACT post in Sentani has received 100 boxes of milk from PT Frisian Flag Indonesia. “These boxes are already in the post. We are currently preparing for the distribution in the near future, Insha Allah,” said Solehudin.

Previously, ACT’s Disaster Emergency Response (DER) team distributed 400 packages of meals for the victims around Sentani Lake from the Public Kitchen in Abepura District, Jayapura.

DER – ACT team is also planning to set up a public kitchen in the ACT Humanitarian Post in Sentani after performing initial assessments. “The distribution locations will be BTN Permai, Doyo Lama, Sosiri and Lakonde,” explained Solehudin. These neighborhood areas are located in Waibu District in Jayapura. []
