ACTNews, GAZA
– As part of Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT)’s annual winter aid program, in early
January, ACT Branch in Palestine provided winter clothing for 400 Palestinian
children in Al-Nusairat and Al-Buraij in Beit Hanoun, North Gaza.
Said Mukaffy from
ACT's Global Humanity Response said ACT Palestine invited the beneficiaries to
shop directly for the winter clothing at the store.
“We hope they can
get the right size and model they like. The children were very happy and elated
because many of them never go shopping in this store before to buy new items,” mentioned
Said, Thursday (2/3/2022).
Said hopes that
the warm clothes will protect Gaza's children from harsh winter when the temperatures
plummet to minus degrees Celsius.
“Winter is a
disaster for the Palestinians in Gaza. The blockade and crises that shackle the
lives of the people of Gaza only make winter worse for them. The demand for
adequate shelter, clothing, and food in winter has increased sharply compared
to other seasons of the year,” added Said.
As winter in
Palestine is expected to last until March 2022, Said emphasized that assistance
from generous donors will be regularly channeled to help keep them warm and
strong. []
