ACTNews, PEKANBARU
– On its tour in Sumatra, Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT)’s Humanity Food Bus
arrived at Pekanbaru, Riau, in late October. The mobile kitchen that is able to
cook thousands of meal packages in one go came to the city to distribute free
meals to the needy. Its arrival was warmly welcomed not only by the
beneficiaries but also the donors.
One of them was the Indonesian Medical Association of Riau Region (IDI Riau). On the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, IDI Riau served 425 meal packages with the Humanity
Food Bus in Rumbai, Pekanbaru.
Dr. Dimas Pramita
Nugraha from IDI Riau said Humanity Food Bus is an excellent program to be
carried out to provide free nutritious food for the needy.
“Even outside the
pandemic, many people are struggling with economic difficulties. It takes
support and collaboration with all parties in order for a program like this to succeed
and continue,” hoped Dr. Dimas.
The Humanity Food
Bus also made a stop in Kampar Regency. As many as 325 meal packages were
distributed at Al-Hasanah orphanage in Pandau Jaya Village, Siak Hulu, Saturday
(10/23/2021) to the orphans, caretakers, and surrounding residents.
“The Humanity Food
Bus came not only to provide meal packages but also to educate people about
generosity and its extensive benefits,” explained ACT Riau Branch Manager,
Nurdiansyah.
In addition to the
Humanity Food Bus, ACT also deployed its Humanity Rice Truck to Pekanbaru,
Pelalawan, and Siak, delivering three tons of rice to ease the burden on the
communities affected by the pandemic. []
