ACTNews, BENGKULU – Floods that hit Bengkulu this October have greatly affected the residents. Various activities are hampered because many places are inundated with varying levels of water.

Responding to the condition, Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) rushed to open a public kitchen to supply meals for the residents as it is the most urgent need to be met since they can hardly cook the food themselves.

ACT’s Public Kitchen was built in Ejuka Bentiring Permai Housing while the Main Humanitarian Post is at the ACT Bengkulu office. Deagita Randa Putra from ACT Bengkulu Program team hopes that this initial assistance will be able to ease the survivors’ hardship.

“Currently, we are responding with urgent need fulfillment especially food and evacuation process. Later, other aid will be distributed gradually along with a more conducive situation,” explained Randa, Wednesday (10/21/2021).

Bengkulu was ravaged by floods after heavy rain on Monday (10/18/2021) night. It is reported that Kopri and Ejuka Housings become the most severe location affected by the floods. The water level even reached the roof of the houses. As a result of the floods, many affected residents chose to evacuate to safer places.[]
