ACTNews, TANAH BUMBU — Since Saturday (8/14/2021), several volunteers have arrived at the location affected by floods in the low-lying coastal area in Satui District, Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan. They swiftly prepared and distributed the aid needed by the flood survivors.
Muhammad Rizki from ACT South Kalimantan Program Team says that the MRI-ACT volunteers have arrived since floods began to enter the residents’ houses. They helped with the evacuation as well as distributing urgent aid such as logistic needs.
“The logistics are including diapers, sanitary pads, food supplies such as bread and other instant food,” said Rizki when confirmed by ACTNews team.
He continues that currently, ACT's Disaster Emergency Response team is establishing public kitchens and distributing the necessary emergency aid, then proceed with collecting survivors’ data and examination.
"According to the direction from the local district head, there are hundreds of survivors, so that we will join the district’s public kitchen at the Koramil headquarter," he said.
Previously, five villages in Satui District, Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan were hit by floods. The flood was caused by heavy rainfall from night until this morning.
The five affected villages are Sinar Bulan, Sungai Danau, Jombang, Satui Timur, and Prosperous Mulia Villages. In addition, tens of hectares of agricultural land were also flooded which resulted in crop failure.
