"It is said that this area was full of drunkards and gamblers, but the scholars here was able to get rid of these immoral acts. Alhamdulillah, it is now a good community. Fewer people were doing such vice. Maybe there’s none now, ”said Ustaz Wahid, one of the teachers at the boarding school, telling the history of Al-Hamdaniyyah Islamic Boarding School.

From this ancient Islamic Boarding School, famous Indonesian Muslim preachers were born. "Maybe if people talk about Al-Hamdaniyyah, some will ask where it is located. It’s not a very famous institution, yet many of its graduates were giants in Islamic preaching, including Kiai Hasyim Asyari and Kiai Kholil Bangkalan," said Ustaz Wahid on Monday (12/25/2021).

The room that was inhabited by Kiai Hasyim As’ari when he was a student is now used as a meeting room. Its bamboo walls symbolize simplicity that becomes one of the main values of this school. Many of the buildings of the Al-Hamdaniyyah Islamic Boarding School have been left unchanged.
