ACTNews, PANDEGLANG - A hurricane hit Leuwihoe Village of Sindangresmi
District, Pandeglang, earlier this month, resulting in 137 damaged houses.
There were no reports of fatalities, but one was injured by the collapsing
house.
Responding to
this disaster, Global Qurban Aqiqah served Aqiqah dishes in this area on Sunday
(10/18). The aqiqah dish distribution benefitted 76 families affected by the
hurricane.
"The locals
highly appreciated the distribution of the aqiqah dishes," said Sukma
Jayalaksana of Global Qurban - ACT Banten.
The processing
of the meat took place in the soup kitchen established for the disaster
victims, located at one of the locals’ houses. With the assistance of the
locals, Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) volunteers cooked the meat into
several dishes.
"Thank you
for the Aqiqah meals," said Satana, Head of Neighborhood Association in
Leuwihoe Village, Sunday (10/18).
The hurricane
that hit Sindangresmi District happened on Thursday (10/1) at 2:30 p.m. The
residential areas were damaged, and some of the houses were damaged by uprooted
trees. Republika reported, Head of BPBD Banten, Nana Suryana, asked residents
to remain vigilant against the upcoming floods, landslides, and tornadoes as
several parts of Indonesia have entered the rainy season in October.
ACT and Global
Qurban take part in assisting disaster-hit communities by providing food,
including through Global Qurban Aqiqah program through which people can
distribute their aqiqah to the needy at home and abroad. Sukma added that all
they need is to visit Indonesia Dermawan website and follow the instructions to
perform aqiqah through Global Qurban Aqiqah.
"Global
Qurban and ACT have made it easy for people to perform their aqiqah," said
Sukma. []
