ACTNews, SOUTH JAKARTA – Since 2009, Atep Salman Al Farisi has been involved in volunteering with the Bandung Chapter of Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI). Since then, Atep fell in love and is always ready to be assigned.

He began his journey as a volunteer when an earthquake rocked Bandung. At that time, Atep and his friends held a fundraising event for ACT Bandung.

For Atep, his desire to be a volunteer first grew when he was a member of the Scout when he was a schoolboy. Also, he considers volunteering his calling.

"The desire to be a volunteer is my deepest calling. Hence, volunteerism is a field I will work in until I die,” said Atep.

He has been assigned to volunteer during incidents of natural disasters such as the Bandung floods, the Tasikmalaya landslide, the Lombok earthquake, the Aceh floods, and the Banjarnegara floods.

“Once, my parents were worried about my safety because I had not been in touch with them, but, Alhamdulillah, they saw me on TV when I was on duty. They became very proud,” recalled Atep. []
