ACTNews, TANGERANG – The distribution of Bea Pendidikan Indonesia (Scholarship for Indonesia/BPI) continues to expand. After East Java, recently, the outstanding and underprivileged students in Pagedangan Udik Village, Kronjo District, Tangerang Regency received the scholarship. The assistance was handed over on Sunday (6/6/2021) and has brought back the enthusiasm of the children on the coast of Tangerang Regency to welcome the new academic year.

Deagita Randa Putra of Global Zakat - ACT Program Department said there were a total of eight middle school students who received the scholarship. The recipients were outstanding students either academically or non-academically who came from underprivileged families.

“There is a student who urgently needs a uniform to be worn at school next week since the available uniform no longer fits after more than a year of online learning. There is also a student who is still waiting and really expecting money from their parents who work as construction workers to buy the Student Worksheets (LKS),” said Randa.

Randa continued, there was also a recipient who lived in a very limited condition. The family doesn't have income since the eldest son who is the only breadwinner had his diploma withheld by the school so that he couldn’t work.

“In the end, this eldest son can only do casual work such as working at the construction site or laboring at his neighbor ship since there’s no choice. He doesn’t have his diploma, cannot look for a scholarship nor goes to college,” explained Randa.

A fatherless recipient of BPI, Fatimatuzzahra thanked the Global Zakat-ACT for the scholarship support for the underprivileged students. According to Zahra, the scholarship would be very beneficial to ease the burden of her mother who only sells sausage at their house.

Alhamdulillah, thank you ACT for the scholarship. This will be my motivation to make my dream comes true by diligently studying at school,” said Zahra.[]
