ACTNews, DELI SERDANG - It took 1.5 hours to reach Sabilul Hafizin Islamic Boarding School from Medan City. The pesantren which has 58 students is located in Lama Village, Hamparan Perak, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. ACT North Sumatra team visited the Islamic boarding school in order to deliver rice assistance for the students, Friday (12/20).
The pickup truck driven by the team stopped right in front of the pesantren. The students and teachers immediately rushed to meet the ACT team. The male students quickly helped to unload the 250 kilograms of rice brought by the team.
Ustaz Arsyad, one of the teachers at the Sabilul Hafizin Islamic Boarding School, also welcomed the ACT team. "Thank you to ACT for helping to ease our burden. The money that are supposed to be used to buy rice can be used for other needs," Arsyad said.
Sabilul Hafidzin Islamic Boarding School was established in 2006, located in Medan Johor, Medan City. Previously, this pesantren was only a small madrasa that taught Quran memorization for dozens of students.
"The public interest was quite large and there are quite a lot of enthusiasts who want to memorize the Quran. Alhamdulillah, in 2015 our pesantren was officially established in the Lama Village, Hamparan Perak, Deli Serdang, "Arsyad continued.
Currently, almost sixty santris study at the pesantren with that use single sex education. The pesantren has no permanent buildings. A number of buildings are left unfinished due to insufficient funds.
Currently, Sabilul Hafizin Islamic boarding school used a house that is borrowed by one of the residents of the Lama Village. The students and teachers also use the village mosque for teaching and learning activities.
