ACTNews, MEDAN – Global Wakaf-ACT North Sumatra team distributed Braille Quran to dozens of blind people from Persatuan Tunanetra Indonesia (PERTUNI) of North Sumatra on Jalan Jangka, Sei Putih Bar Village, Medan Petisah District, Medan City, North Sumatra .

The distribution of the Braille Quran coincided with the graduation for blind people assisted by PERTUNI North Sumatra after completing learning the Quran. A total of 21 people graduated. PERTUNI North Sumatra is a center for blind people to carry out activities, such as entrepreneurship training, handicrafts, and Quran education.

Ustaz Khairul, the manager of PERTUNI North Sumatra, says twice a week, members who are blind learn to read and memorize the Quran. The tuition fee is IDR 100,000 per person to pay for the services of a teacher.

“Teachers are often not paid because the students often do not have money. The number of Braille Qurans available is small," he said, Saturday (25/11/2021).

Ustaz Khairul expressed his gratitude for the Waqf Braille Quran. He admits that the Braille Quran can help blind people maximally in learning and memorizing the Quran.

Alhamdulillah, on behalf of PERTUNI South Sumatra, I am grateful because Global Wakaf-ACT and the donors have cared for us. This Braille Quran means a lot to us. So far, we have to take turns using it and cannot bring it home to study at home. Hence, it is difficult for us to study regularly,” he explained.[]
