Broken Embankment in Babakan Rawa; ACT Distributes Building Materials

Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) and Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) Bandung distributed assistance to flood survivors of the broken embankment in Babakan Rawa Hamlet, Bandung Regency. The assistance was in a form of building materials to reconstruct the embankment.

ACTNews, BANDUNG REGENCY (11/25/2021) – A long heavy rain that was occurred in Babakan Rawa Hamlet, Rancaekek Kulon Village, Rancaekek District has broken the embankment around Cikeruh River on Monday (11/15/2021).

River stream ravaged a number of houses and washed away the residents’ furniture. A total of 42 families were affected by the disaster. “Some of the houses have collapsed after being hit by the river stream. Therefore, some of the residents have fled to safer places. In addition, the village’s main road has been damaged and covered by mud that makes it difficult to access the location,” said Irvan Maulana from ACT Bandung Program team, Wednesday (11/24/2021).

That day, Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) and Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) Bandung distributed assistance to the locals. The assistance was in a form of building materials including sacks of cement and GRC Boards. “Hopefully, the building materials can be useful and accelerate the reconstruction of the broken embankment,” Irvan added.

Residents positively welcomed the assistance. “Alhamdulillah, we are grateful for ACT’s kindness in distributing the building materials. It will be very beneficial for us. So far, only ACT has the initiative to give this kind of assistance,” said a Babakan Rawa resident.

It was follow-up assistance for the recovery of Babakan Rawa Hamlet. The first assistance was in the form of meal packages that had been distributed on Friday (11/19/2021).[]
