ACTNews, TASIKMALAYA – To celebrate the Indonesian Day of Independence with the spirit of sharing and strengthening solidarity, Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) provided gift packages for veterans in Tasikmalaya, Tuesday (8/17/2021). In collaboration with JNE, packages containing staple food packages were given to the veterans through the Free Food Operation.

This activity is also a way to remember and appreciate the services of the war heroes who are the living witnesses of the struggle of the Indonesian people for independence. "The Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day must be understood as a moment to continue their struggle and take real action to help fellow Indonesians," said Fauzi Ridwan from the ACT Tasikmalaya Program Department.

The food package distribution was done in stages because some of the war veterans were attending the flag ceremony. These packages were delivered directly to their houses.

Chairman of the Veterans Legion of the Republic of Indonesia in Tasikmalaya, Jojo Ruskandi appreciated ACT and JNE Tasikmalaya who have paid attention to veterans. He was also happy because he was given the opportunity to share stories about the war of independence. Jojo hoped that the next generation can continue to maintain the spirit of unity for the nation of Indonesia.

“The veterans don’t want to be flattered. We only want to be remembered and to have our struggle continued. The spirit of unity and development must always be fostered and nurtured," said Jojo.

In August, ACT Tasikmalaya will continue to provide assistance for every part of society, especially those living in poverty.[]
