ACTNews, WEST BANK - Palestinian Chief Negotiator who is also the Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Saeb Erekat (65) tested positive for Coronavirus on October 8. He was moved on Sunday (10/18) from his home in Jericho in Occupied West Bank to Israel’s Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, Al Jazeera reported. Erakat is in critical condition and is undergoing treatment for Covid-19-related complications.

WAFA Palestinian News Agency reported, 569 new Covid-19 cases and six deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, as reported by Palestinian Health Minister Mai Alkaila. She added that the death cases occurred in the West Bank.

Palestine continues to increase awareness of the increasing Covid-19 cases. On October 2, the Palestinian Authority declared an emergency period of 30 days.

During the emergency period, Aksi Cepat Tanggap continues to provide health and food assistance. The Indonesian Ambulance and the medical team have been assisting the people needing medical assistance for almost a full month. The team traveled to Jabalia, one of the IDP-filled settlements, then to Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia, Om Al Naser Village, and Shyiekh Radwan. More than 3,700 people benefitted from free medical services.

One hundred packages of foodstuffs were also distributed in Gaza this October. These aid packages were distributed to orphans in Jabalia, north Gaza. The distribution of food is an effort to strengthen Palestinian orphans amid the pandemic.

Said Mukaffiy ACT’s Global Humanity Response explained that Palestine has always been the target of ACT’s aid distribution through the Muslim World Solidarity program. "Various assistance will continue to be delivered to the Palestinian people. You can also contribute to helping Palestine through the Indonesia Dermawan website or BNI Syariah account at 6600003314 in the name of Aksi Cepat Tanggap," said Said. []
