ACTNews, BANJARMASIN - Indonesian Teachers' Day, which falls every November
25, is an important moment to honor the teachers in the country. Many of them
are unsung heroes who have dedicated their lives to educating future
generations. In fact, they do that despite their own financial difficulties.
The solidarity
among teachers is also quite strong, as shown by the honorary teachers in
Banjarmasin who are the member of the Sahabat Guru Indonesia Forum South
Kalimantan (FSGI). They raise funds to help Hairunisa (28), an honorary teacher
at SD Murung Raya 1 Banjarmasin whose house was damaged by fire on Bromo Island
a month ago.
The money that
they raised through a program named “From Teachers for Teachers” was handed
over to Hairunisa by Sarlinda and Jahrah, representatives of the FSGI on
Wednesday (11/25) morning to commemorate the National Teachers Day. "We
want to strengthen one another through this social action. Hopefully, it will
be useful and we can strengthen our brotherhood,” said Jahrah.
Hairunisa was touched by assistance given by her fellow honorary teachers. "Alhamdulillah, I feel happy to be visited, and thank you very much for this assistance. This means a lot to us because until now we have not finished rebuilding the house," said Hairunisa.

A month after
the fire, Hairunisa and her parents have been living in a neighbor's house in
Mantuil Village, South Banjarmasin District, Banjarmasin City. She is grateful
to have such kind-hearted neighbors that allow her to live in their house. Hairunisa
has to cross the Martapura River every day to go to school.
Sarlinda and
Jahrah hoped that they could continue such philanthropic activities. Even though it’s
just a small initiative, they believe it can strengthen each other. "We
hope the honorary teachers will be more solid in fighting for our common welfare,"
said Sarlinda.
The Coordinator
of the Global Zakat - ACT South Kalimantan Program Retno Sulisetiyani
appreciated the enthusiasm of the teachers. "Not only caring about their
students, they also care about their fellow teachers as they strengthen one
another. At the moment of the National Teachers’ Day, we pray that the
solidarity among teachers will be strengthened and that they will always be blessed,
"hoped Retno.
Global Zakat -
ACT also strives to support the welfare of the teachers around continues to
fight for the welfare of the teachers across the country, especially honorary
teachers. "We’ll continue to show our appreciation for honorary teachers
through the Sahabat Guru Indonesia program, which is funded by zakat.
Therefore, we hope that the benefactors will continue to support this program. You
