Eid Gifts from ACT to the Elderlies at a Nursing Home

Welcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, ACT Hopes to Bring Happiness through the Gifts

ACTNews, JAKARTA – Eid-ul-Fitr is coming in days. With the spirit of sharing goodness near Eid-ul-Fitr, Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) prepared hundreds of Eid gift packages for the economically underprivileged. Recently, the Eid gifts were distributed to the elderlies in Tresna Wredha Budi Mulia 2 nursing home under Social Services Office of Jakarta Province. In addition to the Eid Gifts, ACT also distributed iftar packages in the nursing home located in Cengkareng, West Jakarta.

“As for the Eid packages, each contains prayer garbs, ready to eat food, cookies, biscuits and clothes,” explained Sri Eddy Kuncoro, the person-in-charge of the Eid packages distribution on Wednesday (5/30).

Before the distribution that took place on Wednesday afternoon, an Islamic speech was delivered and a group of Islamic singers sang accompanied by the percussive instrument of marwas. Sri Tati Yuliati, the Head of Section for Social Implementation Unit in that nursing home, appreciated the activities on Wednesday. According to her, it is important for the elderlies at the nursing home to know more about religion.

“Most of them came from the streets, so they only have a little knowledge about religion. I hope that social activities consist of not only singing and sharing, but also giving religious knowledge that us beneficial for all,” said Yuliati.

Kuncoro hoped that this event could strengthen the synergy between ACT and Jakarta’s Social Services Office. “This is a moment of strengthening our brotherhood with the elderlies at the nursing home. They may lack their families’ care and attention. Hopefully, this activity can entertain them, and the Eid gift packages can help them on Eid-ul-Fitr,” he said.
