ACTNews, CENTRAL ACEH – To enliven Ramadan and celebrate the Eid ul-Fitr, Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) with the Yayasan Baitul Maal (YBM) UP3 Lhoksumawe provided eid gifts in the last week of Ramadan. The gifts in the form of hundreds of food packages including rice, cooking oil, sugar, eggs, cookies, syrup, and sarongs were distributed to the Muslim converts in Wih Ilang Village, Pegasing District, Central Aceh. Apart from staple food packages, iftar meals were distributed as well.
To reach the Wih Ilang Village by four-wheeled vehicles was not easy. The road was not fully paved. However, it didn’t lessen the spirit of the ACT team to deliver the gifts from the benefactors. The Al Ikhlas Mosque in the village became the destination for the assistance distribution.
Midun Sembiring, a Muslim convert who is also the village leader welcomed the assistance distribution at the end of Ramadan. For him, the food packages from the collaboration of ACT and YBM UP3 Lhoksumawe were very useful for the residents, considering that many of them are economically underprivileged. “Thank you to all benefactors. These packages are very useful for us the Muslim converts,” he said.
Before the distribution of the eid packages, ACT had distributed zakat to help the Muslim preachers there through the Friends of Indonesian Muslim Preachers program. “This is not our first humanitarian action in the village of Muslim converts, Wih Ilang Village. In the future, the efforts to assist and strengthen their faith will continue to be carried out,” said Thariq Farline from ACT Lhoksumawe team.
