Eighty Houses Hit by Flash Flood in South Dolo

A flash flood hits Hamlet 1 and Hamlet 4 of Rogo Village at around 6:30 p.m. Central Indonesia Time on Sunday (29/8/2021). Heavy rain caused the river in Rogo Village to overflow, breaching the embankment.

ACTNews, SIGI – A flash flood hit two hamlets in Rogo Village of South Dolo District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi, Sunday (8/29/2021) evening. The Regional Disaster Management Board (BPBD) of Sigi Regency noted that around 80 families were affected by the disaster.

"Luckily there were no casualties, injuries nor deaths," said Head of BPBD Sigi Asrul Repadjori.

The flash flood hit hamlet 1 and hamlet 4 of Rogo Village at around 6:30 p.m. local time The river in Rogo Village overflowed due to the heavy rain, and the embankment breached.

Head of Rogo Village Fuad Hudin says the affected houses are currently still submerged in mud and water. In addition, the flood also carried debris of wood and rocks. The local residents are working together to clean up their neighborhood.

"Due to the flash flood, two bridges were damaged. Fortunately, this flash flood did not cause any fatality nor injury,” he said in a statement received by ACTNews, Monday (8/30/2021).[ ]
