ACTNews, KUBU RAYA – Nurul Amin Islamic Boarding School was established on a waqf land from a resident in Sadong Hamlet, Simpang Kanan Village, Sungai Ambawang District, Kubu Raya Regency. The school has been running for four years, with 18 santris (students) in it.

“We established this boarding school with the power of basmalah. The santris here don’t need to pay tuition nor the registration and school equipment,” explained Ustaz Abdul Bahri, the Dean of Nurul Amin Islamic Boarding School to Global Wakaf-ACT West Kalimantan Team, Tuesday (8/24/2021).

Their food needs are also managed by the boarding school residents by farming various types of plants including cassava, bananas, lemongrass, and various other types of vegetables that fill the school courtyard. Those plants will be harvested by the santris themselves.

“Some of the harvests will be consumed by ourselves, and we will sell the rest. We do everything because until now we strive to be independent in meeting all of our needs,” explained Ustaz Abdul.

To support the learning facilities for santris, Global Wakaf-ACT West Kalimantan distributed Quran Waqf assistance from the benefactors. Hundreds of new Quran copies have finally filled their school. Ustaz Abdul thanked Global Wakaf for the Quran copy assistance.

Alhamdulillah, hopefully, this can be our jariya alms. Currently, we use several damaged Quran copies to learn. We also don’t want to make the students buy their own Quran copy since most of them are from underprivileged families,” said Ustaz Abdul.

Ustaz Abdul asks for prayer and support from the benefactors. In the future, to optimize the learning process, Nurul Amin Islamic Boarding School plans to build some classes for the santris.[]
