ACTNews, NORTH JAKARTA – Fire that ravaged settlement in RT12/01, Muara Baru and RT16/17 Kamal Muara, Penjaringan, North Jakarta in early September has brought sorrow to the affected residents. They have lost their abodes and belongings in an instant. Dozens of houses were burned, and currently, the victims are confused about how to rebuild their houses.
Responding to the disaster, Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) distributed aid to residents affected by the fire. Harun Basalamah from the ACT North Jakarta Program team says that food assistance is one of the most urgent matters, especially for victims who have lost their properties in a short time.
“Waqf Rice, Waqf Drinking Water, milk, and sanitary equipment were provided for fire-affected residents,” Harun explained.
The assistance handover was carried out in Kamal Muara Village office and Muara Baru Fire Social Service Post. Heri Pribadi, Head of Social Welfare of Kamal Muara Village, appreciated the distributed assistance by ACT.
“Thank you to ACT team who have assisted us affected by the fire. Hopefully, this assistance from ACT can ease their burden,” said Heri.
Currently, the fire survivors stay in emergency tents. They still require assistance especially construction materials and food aid to accelerate the recovery process after the fire.
