Floods Hit Hundreds of Houses in West Lombok

ACTNews, WEST LOMBOK -- Hundreds of houses have been inundated by floods in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Monday (12/6/2021). The water level is varied with an average height reaching two meters.

Branch Manager of ACT West Nusa Tenggara, M Romi Saefudin reported that the water level in the settlements still shows no sign of receding. River water is still overflowing, submerging a number of villages in West Lombok Regency including Gunung Sari Village and Taman Sari Village.

“The floods are triggered by the rain with medium to high intensity in many parts of Lombok since Sunday (12/5/2021) which led to sweeping houses along the river," he said, Tuesday (12/7/2021).

Responding to the disaster, ACT’s Emergency Team has been on standby to provide aid to the affected residents, starting from providing evacuation posts, temporary shelters, and carrying out assessments regarding the needs of the evacuees.

Alhamdulillah, assistance still continues to be carried out including the rescue of flood survivors, providing medical assistance, and establishing public kitchens in three locations,” said Romi.

He continues that until now, the team is still on stand by at the location as the intensity of rain remains high and flood may still occur at any time. “Our team is still on stand-by at the location to anticipate another flood,” he said.[]
