REGENCY – Floods submerged three villages in Tanah Pinoh District, Melawi
Regency, West Kalimantan. The three villages were Suka Maju Village, Batu
Begigi Village, and Tanjung Gunung Village. Tanah Pinoh District had been hit
by heavy rains that caused the flooding since (9/2/2021) to be the cause.

from Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) West Kalimantan Program Department said the
floods affected 45 housing units and 67 shops.
“The height of the
flood varied from 10 to 50 centimeter. According to reports, around 112
families were affected," he explained, Tuesday (9/7/2021).
The Head of the
Regional Disaster Mitigation Board (BPBD) of Melawi Regency Syafarudin appealed
to the affected community to secure items that are easily damaged by water. The
residents are also asked to remain alert to avoid material loss and casualties.
"I am asking the
residents to be vigilant and continue to monitor the height of the water,"
he explained.
The water in Pinoh
river began to rise on Thursday at 2:30 a.m. local time. Until now, there’s
still a potential for rising water because of ongoing rain. []
