Floods Hit Two Villages in Bone Bolango Regency

ACTNews, BONE BOLANGO – Floods hit a number of areas in Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Province. Floods occurred in Cendana Putih and Ilohuuwa Villages in Bone District on Wednesday (9/8/2021).

The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Bone Bolango Regency informed that heavy rain had occurred since the early hours of Wednesday, at 04.00 local time.

"A total of 60 families or 238 people were affected and one building was damaged. No residents have been evacuated yet," explained the Head of Emergency and Logistics Division of Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Bone Bolango Regency Anita in a statement received by ACTNews, Thursday (9/9/2021).

Based on inaRISK's monitoring, Bone District is not an area that is in a moderate to high flood hazard area. However, the Bone region is one of the districts with a moderate to high landslide hazard potential.

Based on the monitoring of the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), Bone District is in the middle to high category of soil movement potential. Topographic conditions and high rainfall are indicators to watch out for when entering the rainy season this September.

Meanwhile, according to the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, the start of the rainy season this year in the Gorontalo region is predicted around September to November 2021. The heavy rain and storm are predicted to occur in Gorontalo from September 9 to 10. []
