Floods Inundate Hundreds of Houses in North Gorontalo

Floods occurred in Sumalata, Tomilito, Kwandang, and Gentuma Raya districts in North Gorontalo. It submerged 110 houses with a height of 1-1.5 meters. The cause of flooding was the high rainfall that has hit the city of Gorontalo since Friday morning.

ACTNews, GORONTALO UTARA – Floods hit four districts in North Gorontalo on Friday (3/26/2021). As a result of this flood, the trans Sulawesi road connecting Gorontalo and Manado was blocked.

Floods occurred in Sumalata, Tomilito, Kwandang, and Gentuma Raya Districts. The flood submerged 110 houses with a height of 1-1.5 meters. The high rainfall that has hit the city of Gorontalo since Friday morning had been the cause of flooding. Many residents’ houses were flooded, forcing some of them to evacuate.

Mustafa from ACT Central Sulawesi explained that Aksi Cepat Tanggap Central Sulawesi was always ready to send assistance to disaster locations when needed.  ACT Central Sulawesi also often sends assistance to Gorontalo. “ Currently we are always on alert, so if needed we can immediately take action and go to the disaster site to bring assistance,” said Mustafa.

North Gorontalo has been hit by flooding several times from December 2020 to February 2021. The floods that occurred inundated many villages and caused difficulties for residents.[]
