ACTNews, BANJARMASIN - Muhammad (53) was peddling his ice cream around Banjarmasin City when he saw a line of people in front of Aksi Cepat Tanggap South Kalimantan Branch, queuing for free foodstuffs. He then decided to queue too.
"Auch program is very good and beneficial. It is very helpful to support our activities," Muhammad said softly while carrying the food packages that were distributed that day. Muhammad admitted that his income had also been affected by the pandemic. He is happy about this program.
Retno Sulisetiyani of ACT South Kalimantan Program Department explained, the Food Alms Gathering Point aims to assist impoverished communities affected by the pandemic. "Since the outbreak, many have been dealing with financial difficulties. Hence, we are making efforts to meet the basic needs of impoverished communities so that they don’t have to worry about basic foodstuffs,” said Retno.
This program also invites the wealthy to fill the Food Alms Gathering Point with foodstuffs so that many people can benefit from them. Besides Muhammad, dozens of people showed up to get free foodstuffs that day.
"The food distribution is done in compliance with the health protocols. We hope that many will also get inspired to take part in this program by donating some of their belongings,” said Retno.
