ACTNews, ISTANBUL — Covid-19 Pandemic has affected the life of Uighur Muslims in Turkey in 2020. Many Uighurs lost their job while the price of basic commodities has increased. This condition continued until Ramadan.
Aksi Cepat Tanggap tried their best to support Uighur Muslims. This form of concern is manifested in thousands of food packages distributed to 1,860 people. The distribution of food assistance was carried out at the beginning of Ramadan 1441 AH.
Firdaus Guritno from Global Humanity Response- ACT team said that the food packages distributed at the beginning of last Ramadan were for Uighur Muslims in Turkey. It was expected to ease their economic burden. Some of the Uighurs were only able to rely on humanitarian assistance to survive. Due to the pandemic, none of them could find any job.
Firdaus continued, in the last 10 days of Ramadan, ACT held another food distribution for Uighur Muslims in Turkey. This distribution reached more targets compared to the previous distribution.
“ The food packages were distributed in two places in the last ten days of Ramadan. In Kayseri, they were given to 260 families or 1,560 people. In Istanbul, this food assistance reached 230 families or 1,380 people,” said Firdaus, Monday (3/23/2021). He hoped, this upcoming Ramadan, many Indonesian benefactors could help more for Uighur Muslims.
