ACTNews, WEST LOMBOK - Although many Indonesian regional governments have been preparing for the period of New Normal for the economic recovery of the community, including West Nusa Tenggara, there has not been any effect on the tourism workers and fishermen. It is still quiet in many places of tourism, including Gili Gede Island in Sekotong Subdistrict.
Many tourism workers like tour guides, transport providers, as well as hotel and restaurant employees have been laid off. They must look for other jobs to be able to survive in the midst of the pandemic. Most of them have become traders.
Located at Thamarind Resort, on Saturday (6/20), ACT West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and Telkomsel delivered dozens of food packages to the elderly, boat captains, other tourism workers through the Free Food Operation program. This program aims to help people who have lost their livelihoods or their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lalu Muhammad Alfian, ACT NTB Branch Manager, was happy to meet the beneficiaries, many of whom have been out of business since the pandemic.

"I am happy and touched to see the smiles of the beneficiaries who came to receive this assistance. Many business people have experienced hardships, and some of the businesses were closed down due to the pandemic. Most of the local residents are fishermen and tourism workers. Hopefully, ACT and Telkomsel can continue to collaborate in aiding those who are struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic," explained Alfian.
This assistance also marks Telkomsel's dedication to the nation, in unison with the 25th Anniversary of Telkomsel, in the mission of Consistently Serving the Country to provide the best for the community. Telkomsel also understands that the growth of this company for last 25 years can be achieved thanks to the customers, partners and the people of Indonesia who take part in their development. Telkomsel will always make this a provision to continue the company's journey in the future.
Alfian hoped that more and more companies like Telkomsel will collaborate with ACT. This cooperation is expected to further expand kindness to the community.
"We are certainly grateful for the cooperation with Telkomsel and hope that more cooperation will be made both with Telkomsel and other companies,” hoped Alfian.
