ACTNews, GAZA - The Humanity Water Tank drove slowly as they entered Um Alnaser Village. In the second week of Ramadan, the truck toured Beit Lahia, Gaza. A total of 170 people benefitted from the clean water distribution.
"Clean water was distributed to houses of impoverished families and those who are unemployed. This clean water ration can meet the needs of Gazan families for two weeks. Each family received 500 liters of clean water, "stated Said Mukaffiy from Global Humanity Response (GHR) - Aksi Cepat Tanggap.
The coordinator of general health and environment administration for Gaza City, Ahmed Abu Abdo, said that the municipality provides basic services to citizens such as collecting and transporting solid waste, pumping water, treating wastewater, and maintaining roads, in addition to services related to organizing markets and cultural exhibitions. He said that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the municipality performed services that were not included in its operating plan and budget.
Gaza is predicted to be uninhabitable in 2020. Clean water is no longer available to them because most ground water has been contaminated with sea water, sewage, and other toxic materials that are hazardous to health. Damage to infrastructure due to Israeli rocket attacks is the biggest contributor to the loss of drinking water sources in Gaza.
