Generous Friends' Aid Rebuild Palestinian Life Throughout 2021

Hundreds of humanitarian programs carried out by Aksi Cepat Tanggap for Palestine throughout 2021 were a manifestation of Generous Friends' generosity. This year's generosity is expected to serve as a springboard for next year's generosity: "What else can we do for Palestine?"

ACTNews, GAZA, WEST BANK– In early 2021, Aksi Cepat Tanggap took a humanitarian step by launching a medical service program. In North Gaza, the ACT medical team visited patients' homes in Jabalia, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahia for health checks and treatment.

Apart from medical assistance, Aksi Cepat Tanggap also distributed winter aid in January.

ACT opened a representative office in Gaza a month later. The presence of an office in Gaza improves the efficiency with which regular programs are carried out.

ACT began one of the Palestine House Waqf megaprojects in early March 2021. The first stone was laid in Jorn Al Nazalowa, Jabalia, in northern Gaza. The team built buildings with a total area of 317 square meters and 20 flat units.

In April, ACT completed the first quarter of assistance by launching the Sister Family Palestine Indonesia (SFPI) program. As a result of this program, ACT has formed a brotherhood between Palestinian and Indonesian families. This program helped 160 Palestinian families to meet their basic needs.

With the arrival of Ramadan 1442 Hijri in April, ACT capitalized on the momentum to more massively distribute humanitarian aid as Generous Friends' assistance grew, including support for suhoor and iftar meals for Palestinians in Gaza, and the West Bank.

Generous Friends and ACT's efforts to rebuild Palestine were put to the test one month later. On May 10, 2021, Israel launched a military offensive against Gaza. The crimes against humanity lasted 11 days and resulted in the deaths of 248 Palestinians, the injuries of 1,710 people, and the destruction of 16,800 housing units.

ACT immediately expanded emergency humanitarian aid for Gaza residents, including medical and ambulance services, distribution of water, and ready-to-eat food. ACT Palestine team carried out actions almost every day

Recounting the incident, Andi Noor Faradiba, ACT's Global Humanity Response Director, explained that the humanitarian aid was still in the recovery phase. ACT rented two apartment buildings to provide temporary housing for Gaza residents who had their homes destroyed by Israeli missiles.

In addition, ACT has increased the number of Indonesian clinics in Gaza. In June 2021, the ACT Palestine team activated four clinics. More people in Gaza have received free medical treatment since then.

In addition to medical programs, recovery assistance included economic recovery. ACT provided Waqf Motorbike Carts for hundreds of Gazans who had lost their jobs.

"We also provide Gaza farmers with business capital waqf. We hope that this assistance will assist farmers in returning to farming after the Israeli attack destroyed agricultural land in Gaza, "Faradiba stated.

ACT has also completed Lumbung Air Wakaf, which produces 250 thousand liters of water per day through Global Wakaf. This bottled water factory aims to solve Gaza's protracted water crisis.

Another significant project is the purchase of a Palestinian Fishing Boat. One of them grew to be Gaza's largest fishing boat. ACT Palestine team gave this Waqf Fishing Boat to Gaza's poor fishermen.

More than 400 humanitarian actions carried out by ACT in collaboration with Generous Friends benefited more than 1,000,000 Palestinians throughout 2021. "We would like to invite Generous Friends to continue to support Palestine in 2022. We hope that this goodwill continues. We will rebuild Palestine again and again," Faradiba concluded. []
