ACTNews, BATAM CITY – Global Wakaf-ACT, in collaboration with Pertamina, returned to the Bahari Kembang Jaya mangrove farmer group in Jabi Village, Batu Besar Village, Nongsa District, Batam City. On Thursday (3/10/2022), the Global Wakaf Team-ACT Batam, Pertamina, and the Bahari Kembang Jaya farmer group met.

Global Wakaf-ACT and Pertamina provided seed funds and technical assistance. According to Khairul Hafiz of the Global Wakaf-ACT Batam Program Team, the team empowered the sale of seeds at the Bahari Kembang Jaya mangrove nursery and planted seedlings on the beach.

"There are twenty different types of mangrove trees. As part of empowerment efforts, several types will be developed in the future," said Hafiz.

This program has been running for about a year and will continue for another five years.

Hafiz also states that ACT and Pertamina will create an edu-tourism area in the future. There is also a mangrove-based food processing business that adds value to the community's economic empowerment.

The Bahari Kembang Jaya mangrove farmer group currently has twenty-nine members who manage approximately 100,000 mangrove seedlings. A total of 3.5 thousand seeds have been planted in various locations.

"We ask for prayers to the benefactors so that we and our partner Pertamina can realize our long-term plan of presenting empowerment through mangroves," Hafiz said.[]
