ACTNews, LHOKSEUMAWE – Aid from Generous Friends continues to flow to Rohingya refugees in Lhokseumawe, Aceh. Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) Lhokseumawe distributed nutritional package food and prayer kits to 120 refugees living in a shelter in Muara Dua District, Lhokseumawe City, Aceh.
According to Muhammad Alfian of the ACT Lhokseumawe team, the nutritional package includes healthy food and fruits. "Hopefully, the assistance will help refugees meet their nutritional needs," Alfian said on Saturday (1/15/2022).
In addition to nutritional package food, the ACT team provided prayer kits to all refugees. The team gave shirts, caps, and sarongs for men and prayer gowns for women.
"Previously, the refugees lacked prayer kits. They only brought their bodies and the clothes they were wearing at the time in their small boats," Alfian stated.
It was not the first time aid has been distributed. On January 6, the ACT Lhokseumawe team provided food aid to newly evacuated Rohingya refugees.
Previously, the Indonesian Navy and Acehnese people evacuated a ship carrying 120 Rohingya refugees (51 children, 9 adult men, and 60 women) from Krueng Geuueh Harbor in Lhokseumawe on Friday early morning (12/31/2021). At the time, the refugees' situation was dire, with a lack of food and illness. Several refugees were said to have died while the boat was still at sea.
