Heavy Rain Causes Floods in Samarinda

Based on the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) cyclonic circulation in northern Kalimantan became the cause of flooding in Samarinda.

ACTNews, SAMARINDA — North Samarinda and Sungai Pinang Districts, Samarinda City, are flooded on Wednesday (10/21/2021). High-intensity rainfall caused the Benanga dam to overflow. Mud and water forced thousands of residents to evacuate.

“Currently, assistance including food, clean water, drinking water, and infant needs are still urgently needed,” said ACT East Kalimantan team, Budi Cahyanto, Thursday (10/21/2021).

Furthermore, medicines are also very required in the evacuation posts with poor condition. Some of the evacuees have suffered from skin diseases. “They also require hygiene equipment due to a large number of evacuees,” Budi added.
