ACTNews, BATULICIN - Hunger and suffering knows
no time. We must not falter to take care of the needy. Such is the principle
and determination of Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) – Aksi Cepat Tanggap
(ACT) team in Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan. Every week, the volunteers
tirelessly distribute meal packages to the economically underprivileged
communities. "We are merely a medium to channel the generosity of the
benefactors who have donated to us. This is the role of the volunteers," said
Anjar Sufangat, Chairman of MRI Tanah Bumbu when distributing prepared meals,
Thursday (8/31).
MRI-ACT’s consistency in channeling the
generosity of the benefactors has brought immense benefit to many. One of the
programs to channel the generosity of the benefactors is called the Humanity
Food Car. On Saturday (8/31), before noon, a car drove to the Pagatan Market in
Pasar Baru Village, Kusan Hilir Subdistrict, Tanah Bumbu Regency. The locals
looked in amazement as soon as the car opened and delivered full lunch
packages. "It's all free. Please enjoy," said Anjar Sufangat.
The pedicab drivers and laborers in the market immediately rushed to the Humanity Food Car. "Alhamdulillah, we are happy for the free lunch. Thank you very much," said Jauhari who immediately took a lunch package and ate it on his pedicab. Another pedicab driver named Ali also took a package of free lunch and enjoyed it.
The volunteers were also deeply impressed
by the free lunch distribution that day, one of them was Retno Melati Fatma
Napsari. The woman who is often called Icha said that she was happy to be able
to contribute to the Humanity Food Car program. "It was very nice to be
able to contribute through MRI-ACT. The team is friendly and very
communicative, "said Icha, who is also the founder of the Komunitas Jumat Menabung Pagatan. Icha
hoped that the Humanity Food Car meal distribution can be done regularly
because it is very beneficial laborers in Pagatan Market.
A total of 120 people consisting of laborers
and pedicab drivers enjoyed the free meals that Saturday afternoon. This
activity also sparked the enthusiasm of ACT South Kalimantan to continue to
share. "The lunch packages have brought smile to many. This is an act of
kindness that must continue to be done because hunger and suffering will never
take a day off, "concluded the Branch Manager of ACT South Kalimantan Zainal
Arifin. []
