ACTNews, JAKARTA – Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT)’s Humanity Food Truck served thousands of flood victims who evacuated to Gelanggang Remaja Sports Center in, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, Friday (1/3). The mobile kitchen visited one flood-hit location to another to alleviate the evacuees’ hardship.

Edi Komala from Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) team who was in charge of the Gelanggang Remaja Sport Center shelter explained that the meal packages were distributed to thousands of evacuees in the Sport Center and in Kapuk Village, Cengkareng.

"The Humanity Food Truck parked at the Gelanggang Remaja Sport Center, but we also reached out to other refugees whose locations are not too far away," said Edi.

Coordinator of Cengkareng Sports Center Evacuation Site Wiwi Nurhayati said that there were 600 evacuees in the sports center. "Today, some of them have started to return to their homes, so it has begun to decrease," Wiwi explained.

Most of the evacuees are residents of the Duri Kosambi Urban Village located close to West Cengkareng. They fled to West Cengkareng due to the flood. "Alhamdulillah, the needs of the evacuees can now be slowly fulfilled. On the first day of the flood, one family only got two meal packages because there wasn’t much available. Now, one person can receive one package, "explained the Chairman of RT 6 RW 5, Duri Kosambi Urban Village.

Bayan (39), One of the workers from the West Jakarta Public Facility Maintenance Agency (PPSU), enjoyed the delicious meal. Along with his wife and his four children, he evacuated to the sports center. "Alhamdulillah, we had enough lunch. We evacuated without bringing anything, not even clothes. Maybe my clothes have been washed away, "Bayan said. He hasn't come to work for two days because he can’t yet leave his family.

Until Friday afternoon, a number of evacuees still flocked the hall of the sports complex. Later that afternoon, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan came to visit the evacuees. []
