Humanity Food Truck Visits Fire-Affected Residents in Tangga Buntung

Fire disaster destroyed dozens of houses in Palembang. The victims lost their houses and their belongings. Humanity Food Truck came to assist them by providing prepared meals.

ACTNews, PALEMBANG - Humanity Food Truck from Global Zakat-Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) returned to the city of Palembang. This time, the moving kitchen distributed three thousand packages of prepared meals to the underprivileged community in South Sumatra for the next ten days. The Distribution locations include Palembang, Ogan Komering Ilir, and Banyuasin.

On Saturday (10/19), Humanity Food Truck visited the fire victims in Tangga Buntung, Karang Anyar, Palembang. A total of 400 servings of prepared meals were cooked directly by the chef and the Humanity Food Truck team consisting of volunteers from the Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) Palembang.

The distribution of prepared meals in Palembang was located at Al Saleh Mosque. ACT also invited a finalist of Putri Indonesia 2018 Berliana Permatasari. She greatly appreciated the arrival of the Humanity Food Truck from ACT. "The concept of this truck is, in my opinion, very effective especially when there is a disaster. This truck can reach the disaster-hit location bringing a full kitchen," said Berliana.

Hundreds of meal packages cooked by the Humanity Food Truck were distributed to residents affected by fire in Tangga Buntung. The fire occurred on Tuesday (10/15), resulting in the destructions of dozens of houses.

Ardiansyah, ACT South Sumatra Branch Manager, said that the presence of the Humanity Food Truck in Palembang aims to continue the humanitarian assistance after the forest fires that occurred in parts of Sumatra. Additionally, the truck also served the evacuees from Wamena who fled to their hometowns in West Sumatera

"This truck was deployed directly from Jakarta. We have prepared meal packages to the victims of the smoke haze and Wamena evacuees in West Sumatra a few weeks ago," said Ardiansyah, Sunday (10/20). []
