ACTNews, GAZA – Throughout August 2021, Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) with the support of the generous donors distributed 3.4 million liters of clean water to the Palestinians in Gaza. The water is distributed by two Humanity Water Tanks that visit Gazan neighborhoods to reach as many beneficiaries as possible.
One Humanity Water Truck can carry up to 6,500 liters of clean water in one go. The water will be pumped into the water storage at every house in Gaza or other containers such as buckets and jerry cans. Each beneficiary receives at least 20 liters of water a day.
Said Mukaffiy from ACT's Global Humanity Response explained that the water brought by the Humanity Water Tank was taken directly from the Waqf Well in Gaza. Said also emphasized that they make sure that the water is of excellent quality because the water has been filtered to separate the water from impurities and contaminants.
"If not filtered, the groundwater in Gaza is rather impure and the taste is rather sour. Currently, only about 30 percent of Gazans have access to adequate clean water. Most of them drink polluted water,” added Said, Wednesday (9/1/2021).
Furthermore, the recent Israeli aggression has damaged 50 percent of the water network in Gaza, causing 800 thousand citizens to lose access to clean water from the water pipelines. The Israeli airstrike also affected three main desalination plants in Gaza City.
"Insha Allah, more Humanity Water Tanks will be provided for Gaza as an effort supported by the philanthropists to end the water crisis suffered by Gazans," concluded Said.
