ACTNews, RIAU – As many as 160 houses in Kampar Regency, Riau Province, were flooded. High rainfall that has occurred since Saturday (9/25/2021) night caused the flood.

Floods with water levels between 50 and 100 centimeters inundated Suka Ramai Village, Tapung District. Based on information from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Riau Province, the lack of infiltration causes water to pool around the area.

"The rainwater discharge also caused the tributaries of the Suram River to overflow," said the Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, in an official statement received on Monday (9/27/2021).

Until now, there are around 64 houses still submerged, and some areas have receded. Subsequent flooding is also possible considering that foggy weather, cloudy, and light rain dominated Riau Islands.

Weather forecast from 26 to 28 September 2021, it will rain with moderate to a heavy intensity which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds. The inaRISK study shows that Kampar Regency has moderate to high flood potential, which affects 21 sub-districts.[]
