ACTNews, SANLIURFA – Over a hundred boys were gathering at the center of the room. They chatted and joked while waiting for the iftar time. As the dusk was near, prayers and supplications filled the room. On Sunday (5/19), an iftar gathering was held in an orphanage in Sanliurfa, Turkey.
Hundreds of portions of iftar from the people of Indonesia were served that day. Apart from orphans, the event was also attended by Syrian elderlies and widows.
Firdaus Guritno of Global Humanity Response (GHR) – Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) reo=ported that the iftar gathering on that Sunday was held for the orphan families that fled to Sanliurfa. “There are 200 beneficiaries that received the iftar packages,” said Guritno.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude. The iftar gathering that afternoon is a moment of strengthening their bond. “In this blessed month, we wish to send our best regards to ACT and our beloved Indonesians. Thank you for your aid and kindness. Today, we in Sanliurfa, close to the Syruab border can enjoy iftar with Syrian mothers and orphans. Thank you, may Allah accept your good deeds,” said a beneficiary to an ACT volunteer.
Apart from iftar packages, since mid-April 2019, ACT has distributed thousands of bread packages to the Syrians in Idlib. A thousand families received two packages of bread that contain ten loaves each. They receive the bread packages every day, including in Ramadan. Additionally, in welcoming Ramadan 1440 AH, ACT also distributed Ramadan food packages for the Syrian refugees in Reyhanli, Turkey.
