ACTNews, LEBAK - Dozens of construction workers are still completing the construction of the Integrated Community Shelter (ICS) in Sukarame Village, Sajira Subdistrict, Lebak Regency. On Monday (3/9), the progress had reached around 20%
"The construction began on Wednesday (3/4). Insha Allah, we plan to build 52 shelters along with amenities like restrooms, warehouses, public kitchens, and mosques. The ICS is also equipped with a playground for the children, "explained Dede Abdul Rohman, coordinator of the ICS construction.
Consisting of 15 members, the team targets to finish the construction of ICS within one month from the groundbreaking ceremony. The team races with time to complete the construction so that the disaster survivors can move soon from their damaged homes. Among the obstacle that can slow down the construction is the bad weather.
"Hopefully, the construction will not be hampered by the weather and we can reach our target of finishing the ICS in a month. It has been raining, and the road to the construction site has been muddy. Vehicles can only reach the main road. To reach the construction site, the workers must carry the building materials. There’s no problem with the procurement of the building materials. They are still quite affordable, "said Dede.

The Somang villagers will inhabit the shelters. Earlier this year, Somang village was hit by a flash flood that destroyed several houses. Since that disaster, their village was declared a flood-prone area by the local government.
Minggu, the Secretary of Sukarame Village, said that the presence of ICS was highly anticipated by the residents of Somang Village. The village government has recorded the families who will inhabit the ICS from Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT).
"There are no specific criteria or priorities that we set for the beneficiaries, whether they are old or young. We make sure that the villagers whose homes were damaged or washed away due will receive a shelter," said Sunday.
Syarif, one of the local residents, felt greatly assisted by the presence of the ICS for the residents of Somang Village. Syarif's house was damaged by the flood, and he is grateful that the benefactors have helped residents to find temporary shelter.
"We, the Somang villagers, are very grateful to the benefactors who have helped us here, who have alleviated our burden here. We hope that ACT will get closer to the community in the future," Syarif said.
