The next day, Friday (5/7/2021), the Palestinians gathered to commemorate the “Last Friday” in the month of Ramadan. They held the Friday prayer in the congregation and protested against Israel’s arbitrary expulsion. Approximately 70,000 people gathered at Al-Aqsa Mosque to carry out Friday prayers and voiced their demands for rights of Palestinians in Jerusalem to be protected.

However, after the Maghrib prayer, the situation became chaotic because Israeli soldiers fired shots and gas grenades and arrested dozens of residents. The atmosphere of the Al-Aqsa mosque was full of gunfire and people running to avoid being shot. The Al-Aqsa Mosque Clinic was not free from the attacks and was damaged.

The attack injured 53 Palestinians. Ambulances arrived in the vicinity of the Al-Aqsa mosque to provide first aid and took the injured people to the nearest health facility.

"The Al-Aqsa incident is proof that the Israeli Zionists are still committing atrocities even in the holy month of Ramadan. This is proof that they want the death of every Palestinian citizen, "said Said Mukaffiy from ACT’s Global Humanity Response team, Saturday (5/8/2021).

In response to this, ACT will try to provide assistance to Palestinians who have experienced repressive actions from the Israeli army. This assistance is a form of Indonesian people's support for Palestinians to continue to fight for their rights and against oppression. []
