Landslides and Floods Hit Villages in Tanggamus Regency, Lampung

ACTNews, LAMPUNG - Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds until Tuesday (8/31/2021) in Sukaraja Village, Semaka, Tanggamus Regency, Lampung caused landslides in Lintas Barat road, and flood submerged hundreds of houses.

Ediyan M Thoha, the Head of the Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Tanggamus Regency, said that the flood submerged hundreds of houses by up to one meter. Floods began to submerge the area after the collapse of the Way Sedayu Embankment, which is an emergency embankment built by BPBD to collect water from the mountains.

"We have not received details of the damage to houses and the Lintas Barat road in the incident. Currently, BPBD officers are still recording hundreds of houses that have been flooded," he said.

Meanwhile, based on information from residents, landslides covered Lintas Barat road connecting Lampung to Bengkulu. The landslide was caused by the rain that did not stop from Monday evening to Tuesday.[]
