ACTNews, SUMEDANG - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Sumedang Regency reported 18 injuries and 11 fatalities as of Sunday (1/10/2021) caused by landslides in Bojong Kondang Hamlet, Cihanjuang Village, Cimanggung District, Sumedang. The disaster that occurred on Saturday (1/9/2021) afternoon buried 14 houses in Pondok Daud Housing Complex.
By Saturday night, volunteers from Aksi Cepat Tanggap’s Emergency Response and Masyarakat Relawan Indonesia (MRI) Bandung were already site to assist with the evacuation. MRI Bandung Secretary Husen Nurochman Rahmat reported that the team works together with BASARNAS Bandung in searching the victims. However, the search has been halted temporarily as we are waiting for the arrival of the heavy equipment. We are continuing the search today (on Sunday). The Emergency Response - ACT team will be assigned to search this afternoon," said Husen.
Landslides in the Cihanjuang Village, Cimanggung District, Sumedang Regency, West Java, occurred twice. The first was at 4 p.m. local time and the next was at 7:30 p.m. BPBD reported that the second landslide occurred while the rescue workers were still searching for the victims of the first landslide.
