ACTNews, SOUTH JAKARTA — Sutimin (69), a fruit rujak seller in Cipete, South Jakarta, looked excited to earn a living in the capital city. Since 1982, he has moved to Jakarta leaving his wife and child in his hometown to make a better living.

Aside from his fit physical looks, in fact, Sutimin suffers from a hearing disorder. To ACTNews, Sutimin shared his story that once, he fainted while working at a factory and woke up with low hearing. “I am lacking in hearing ability. So, it’s difficult for me to communicate with others,” said Sutimin, Wednesday (10/13/2021).

His imperfection doesn’t make him give up. He keeps working to earn a living since he also has to divide his income for his family in his hometown and his living expense in Jakarta. To save his expenses, Sutimin lives with his three colleagues who are also rujak sellers in a rented house.

That day, ACT’s Buying Up MSME Merchandise program bought half of Sutimin’s entire merchandise that day. Sutimin couldn’t hide his happiness. He continuously thanked ACT team for the blessings he received and prayed for ACT and the benefactors to be blessed by Allah.

“Please bring this watermelon with you,” said Sutiman to ACT team after receiving assistance from the benefactors.[]
