ACTNews, MADIUN – The Waqf Drinking Water can now be enjoyed by the Madiun residents after its launching by Global Wakaf-ACT on Wednesday (18/12) in Malang Regency. On Friday (20/12), 1,700 boxes of Waqf Drinking Water were given to a number of Islamic boarding schools, mosques, schools, and underprivileged communities in Madiun.
Didik Purwoko from ACT Madiun Program Team explained that this drinking water is to be distributed for free and not for sale. "The Waqf Drinking Water is intended for the public, institutions, pesantrens, and mosques in need. To date, we have distributed 1,700 boxes of Waqf Drinking Water consisting of the 240 ml and 600 ml packages. Hopefully, we can distribute more Waqf Drinking Water in the future," said Didik.
The distribution of Waqf Drinking Water in East Java is currently focused on Madiun City and its surrounding areas. Global Wakaf-ACT seeks to reach even broader areas.
Sumintoro, ACT Madiun Branch Manager, stated that the Waqf Drinking Water is a product of Lumbung Air Wakaf (LAW) which is a diversification of the Waqf-Based Food Barn (LPW). The main goal is to meet the basic needs of society through waqf endowments. "Previously, Global Wakaf-ACT had established the Waqf-Based Rice Barn (LBW) and Waqf-Based Livestock Barn (LTW) to fulfill the need for food. Meanwhile, to meet the water need, Global Wakaf built the Lumbung Air Wakaf as a solution," concluded Sumintoro.
