ACTNews, PALESTINA — Mansour Al-Shahateit has become a victim of the cruelty towards Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons. Mansour, who memorized the whole Quran by heart, had been imprisoned since 2004 and spent around 17 years in prison.

When he was released recently, Mansour’s face looked full of sorrow. He looked thin when he got out of prison. His parent could not even recognize him after he got out of prison. Mansour lost his memory due to severe torture and years of solitary confinement.

Mansour was a free young man, had extraordinary abilities, and was intelligent. He was able to memorize Al-Qur’an and master three languages. Nowadays, not many people can memorize Al-Qur’an. Mansour was detained by the Israeli army, found guilty, and was imprisoned.

“I cannot believe that I have been released from prison. This is a great joy,” said Mansour.

What Mansour experienced shows the grim reality of Israeli prisons that take not only the freedom but also the happiness of the Palestinian prisoners.

Today, many Palestinian men are still imprisoned in Israeli prisons. Additionally, arbitrary actions such as forced arrests, shooting without reason are constantly being carried out by the Israeli military.[]
